E-mails may be the best way for employees to discuss each others work honestly & concludes a study conducted by Stephanie Watts Sussman, Ph.D, assistant professor of information systems at Case Western Reserve University School of Management and Lee Sproull, Ph.D, professor of business at New York University's Stern School of Business. They asked 117 students to rate another students resume in person, over the phone or by e-mail. Students that used e-mail were more comfortable delivering negative feedback and less likely to use politeness strategies to distort the message.
